Hatay, with a warm weather, friendly people and rich nature, is a city where you will feel yourself at home no matter where you come form. This city that was home to dozens of civilizations, today, has an inclusive culture blending the heritage of all these cultures. The city embraces all differences with a great tolerance whilst feeding them all with its UNESCO certified cuisine. Hatay, that has been, until now, one of the most important destinations in Turkey for outdoor sports, aromatherapy, gastronomy, history and culture, belief and gastronomy tourism is getting ready to share all of these values with rest of the world and to support the mankind’s quest for a new world with Expo 2021.
Although Hatay is mostly known for its long-standing past and rich cuisine, it is actually a unique city in all aspects. Not only is it the unchanging capital of peace, brotherhood and tolerance, it is also one of the oldest settlements of mankind, and it is also Turkey’s gateway to the Middle East, and the Middle East’s gateway to Anatolia, the Mediterranean and Europe. In addition, it has many superpowers, especially the cultural heritage inherited from dozens of civilizations, natural riches with high medicinal and agricultural value, favorable climate, and a strong potential waiting to be unleashed in countless industries.
Today is the time for Hatay to share this legacy of knowledge with the world and unlock this potential. For this purpose, we all take action and seek a solution to mankind’s search for a good future through our “Expo 2021 Hatay” with our historical heritage and cultural riches. Doing this, we’re revealing the artist, craftsman, healer and entrepreneur side of Hatay, which is known for its culture of life that embraces diversity, its fertile lands and its delicious tastes. This is why Expo 2021 Hatay, which will be held in two mega areas, Iskenderun and Antakya, by Hatay Metropolitan Municipality between 1 April and 29 October 2022 under the coordination of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), is of great significance. Let’s meet at EXPO; let’s contribute to the advancement of mankind by learning, having fun, discovering and sharing.
